Project Overview: Pittville Student Village – Summer Turnaround

Pittville Student Village is the largest student accommodation site in Cheltenham, housing hundreds of new students every year. The summer period is always very fast paced for the team, with tight deadlines and a small window between the old tenants moving out, and the new tennants settling in.

In early August, we were invited to support Pittville’s annual turnaround, with what began as an initial request to clean 12 accommodation blocks quickly grew into a 16 block project after the management team reviewed our early results and asked for further assistance.

…How Did We Approach This?

Site Assessment & Scheduling
The client and I carried out a walkthrough of each building, identifying priority areas, moisture levels and stain heavy zones.
Low-Moisture Deep Cleaning
We used low moisture cleaning methods to minimise downtime as some blocks were occupied and others had ventilation limitations.
Specialist Stain & Grease Treatment
Kitchen areas and high-traffic corridors required targeted treatments. Paint contamination was handled with a revised approach after initial testing revealed a chemical interaction with the bitumen backing, preventing damage and ensuring tiles remained intact.
Transparent Communication
Throughout the project, we provided progress updates, photo documentation and immediate reporting on any complications to keep the accommodation team fully informed.
